For 45 years, Christian World Missions has reached far beyond our community to help those in need, but we have also realized that there is much to be done right here at home. For various reasons, many families in our community find it difficult to enter a church, and there is no other place on the North side of town where people who are not comfortable going in a church can experience Christ. What an opportunity for us to minister!
In the summer of 2015, we launched Inda Silasē YCE (Youth Community Explosion) with 26 6th-8th grade youth. We are now in our fourth session. Each day the youth recite the YCE creed and mission statement. They share a meal, pray, worship and have a devotional time. They enjoy crafts, activities, field trips, and service projects. The fall session will begin on September 12, 2016.
Also in 2015, we began making improvements to our 10,000 sq. ft. facility. When completed it will have a worship center/gym, a full kitchen, 4 class rooms, a library, a youth game room, a craft room, 4 restrooms, an office, HVAC, and a fire sprinkler system. These improvements will open the door of hope for mentoring, tutoring, healthy living, building strong relationships, and making disciple of Jesus Christ.
We were recently given 12 computers, monitors, mouses, and keyboards. As his Eagle Scout project, a local scout configured and prepared the network connections for those computers. Once the construction is completed, those computers will be permanently placed and ready for use in tutoring and learning various software programs. Other items that have been donated include desks, couches, pingpong and foosball tables, and games and toys for kids.
We are excited about this ministry that God has placed in our hands. Your generous gift will make a huge difference to the children, families, and neighborhoods of North Starkville and beyond. Click Yorkville HERE for the “Door of Hope” video.
